Aqueen mattress is 60 inches wide and 80 inches long: 5 ft × 6 ft 8 in, or 152 × 203 cm. That is 33.3 sq ft of sleeping space, 30" each for two. Casper's minimum room size for it is 10' x 10'.

Is every queen mattress 60" × 80"?

60" × 80" is the size listed by Better Sleep Council, Casper, Saatva, Sealy, and Tempur-Pedic. Some makers list or build it differently:

"As built" sizes are the measurements Sealy publishes for its finished mattresses. A fitted sheet with some stretch covers the difference; measure the mattress itself before ordering a frame or headboard that has to fit it closely.

What size room do you need for a queen bed?

  • Casper: at least 10' x 10'
  • Sealy: 10' x 10' to 10' x 14'
  • Saatva: at least 10' x 10'

With the head against a wall and a 24-inch walkway on both sides and at the foot (Casper's minimum), aqueen mattress needs a room at least 9' wide and 8' 8" deep. For 36-inch walkways, which Casper says feel open and which match the minimum width of a wheelchair-accessible route in the ADA Standards, it needs 11' × 9' 8". Add the frame: Casper lists queen frames at 62–67" × 81–85".

The largest bed that fits a 10' × 12' room with 24" walkways is a king or California king.

  • Walkways are measured from the mattress to the wall. Nightstands and dressers take space out of them.

Queen sheet sizes

Buy sheets labeled queen. As an example, Brooklinen's queen Classic sheet set measures:

Brooklinen says its fitted sheets fit mattresses up to 16 inches deep, with 12 to 16 inches the best fit. Flat sheet and duvet sizes vary more between brands than fitted sheets do.

What size pillows for a queen bed?

Two queen pillows (20" x 30") span the full 60-inch width. Two standard pillows also fit, with 8 inches to spare. Casper and Saatva match queen pillows to queen beds.

  • A queen vs a full: the full is 6 inches narrower and 5 inches shorter.
  • A queen vs a king: the king is 16 inches wider and the same length.

Who is a queen bed for?

  • Each of two sleepers gets 30 inches, 8 inches less than a twin. The Better Sleep Council calls it the most popular mattress size and suggests it for couples who do not need much sleeping space or want more floor space.
  • Casper suggests sizing up when both partners are restless sleepers or one is over 6' 2".
