In February 2023, Cosori recalled about 2 million air fryers in the US, plus about 250,000 in Canada and 21,000 in Mexico. A wire connection inside them can overheat and cause a fire. The recall covers 21 model numbers of 3.7- and 5.8-quart basket air fryers sold from June 2018 through December 2022, and it’s still open: if you have one, you can get a free replacement.
The short answer: turn your air fryer over and find the model number on the label on the bottom. If it’s on the list below, stop using it, unplug it, and register at recall.cosori.com for a free replacement air fryer or another Cosori product. You don’t need a receipt, the warranty doesn’t have to be active, and shipping is free.

The letters after the main model number (like -RXB or -R19) mark different colors and versions of the same air fryer, and every one listed is recalled. If your model number isn’t on this list, your air fryer isn’t part of the recall.

Why Cosori Recalled Them
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a wire connection inside the air fryers can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. Cosori says the problem is in the closed-end crimp connectors that join certain wires.
At the time of the recall, Cosori had received 205 reports of the air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking. Those included 10 reports of minor burn injuries and 23 reports of minor property damage.
The air fryers were sold at Best Buy, Target, and The Home Depot and online at Amazon, Walmart, Kohl’s, Cosori.com, and other retailers, for $70 to $130. The importer was Atekcity Corporation of Anaheim, California.
How to Check Your Air Fryer
- Unplug the air fryer and let it cool.
- Find the model number. It’s printed on the label on the bottom of the air fryer and in the user manual.
- Find the batch number (B/N). It’s also on the bottom: either etched along the edge of the plastic border or printed next to the manufacturer’s label. You’ll need it to register.
- Compare the model number with the table above. If it isn’t listed, your air fryer isn’t recalled.
Only air fryers sold in the US, Canada, and Mexico are covered. Cosori air fryers sold in Europe, Asia, and Australia aren’t part of this recall.
How to Get a Free Replacement
Register at recall.cosori.com. Choose United States, then fill out the registration form. You’ll need:
- Your contact information
- The model number and batch number
- Three photos of your air fryer, including one showing the power cord cut off
Cosori says to cut the cord safely: turn the air fryer off, let it cool fully, unplug it, wait at least 5 minutes, and then cut the power cord. That makes sure the recalled unit can’t be used again.
What to expect:
- Cost: free, including shipping.
- Receipt: not needed.
- Warranty: you qualify even if your warranty has expired.
- Condition: used and broken air fryers still qualify.
- Timing: Cosori reviews registrations within 5 business days, and the replacement arrives about 1 to 3 weeks after approval. You’ll get an email when it ships.
- Refunds: Cosori doesn’t offer cash refunds. If you don’t want another air fryer, you can choose a different Cosori product instead, depending on your model.
- New warranty: replacement products come with a 2-year warranty from the date you receive them.
You can check your registration’s status on the same site with your email and registration number. If you need help, Cosori’s recall hotline is 888-216-5974, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific.
What to Do With the Recalled Air Fryer
Don’t keep using it, even if it has worked fine for years, and don’t sell it or give it away: it’s illegal to sell a recalled product in the US. After you register and Cosori tells you to, recycle or dispose of it according to your state and local rules. Many cities take small appliances at electronics or household-waste drop-offs.
