The Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 45W) is a 20,000mAh battery pack with two USB-C cables built into it, plus a separate USB-C port and a USB-A port, so it can charge four devices at once without you packing a single cable. It puts out up to 45 watts, recharges at up to 30 watts, and has a small display that shows how much charge is left.

It costs about $42 and weighs 12.85 ounces. It’s our replacement for the Anker 325 (PowerCore 20K), the 20,000mAh Anker we used to recommend, which Anker no longer sells. The Zolo keeps the same capacity and roughly the same weight, and charges phones about three times as fast.

A 20,000mAh power bank with two built-in USB-C cables, 45W output, 30W recharging, and a charge display.

Quick Verdict

Buy the Zolo 20K 45W if you want a high-capacity power bank for phones, earbuds, a tablet, or a handheld game console, and you’re tired of forgetting cables. With 20,000mAh, it can refill most phones three to four times, and the built-in cables mean it’s always ready.

Skip it if you need to charge a laptop at full speed. 45W keeps many thin laptops topped up, but a 13- or 14-inch MacBook Pro or a larger Windows laptop charges slowly from it. Anker’s 20K, 87W power bank, or our laptop picks in the best portable chargers guide, are better for that.

Capacity: How Many Charges?

A 20,000mAh power bank doesn’t deliver 20,000mAh to your phone. Capacity is rated at the battery cells’ internal voltage (about 3.6 to 3.7 volts), and some energy is lost converting it up to the 5 to 20 volts your devices charge at, plus to heat. In practice, you get roughly 60 to 70% of the rated capacity at the device.

That still works out to a lot of charging. Anker says the Zolo charges an iPhone 16 about four times. For a phone with a bigger battery, such as an iPhone 17 Pro Max or a Galaxy S25 Ultra, expect about three full charges. It can also refill an iPad or Nintendo Switch about once or twice. Our mAh to Wh calculator converts any power bank’s rating into watt-hours and estimates real charges.

Charging Speed

The Zolo’s 45W maximum is split across its outputs:

  • iPhones: up to 40W to iPhone 17 models from either the built-in cable or the USB-C port. Anker says it charges an iPhone 17 Pro Max to 50% in about 22 minutes. Older iPhones charge at their own maximum (around 20 to 27W).
  • Samsung phones: up to 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0, but only from the USB-C port, not the built-in cables.
  • Tablets and handhelds: fast USB-C charging for iPads, Android tablets, the Switch, and the Steam Deck.
  • Laptops: 45W is enough to charge a MacBook Air or many thin Windows laptops at a reasonable pace, but not to keep a larger laptop full under heavy use.

When you charge several devices at once, the 45W is shared between them, so each charges more slowly than it would alone.

Recharging the power bank itself takes up to 30W over USB-C. With a 30W or larger USB-C charger, Anker says it refills about an hour faster than the previous model; a slow 5W cube will take many hours.

Built-In Cables

The headline feature is the pair of built-in USB-C cables. They’re flat, braided, and about 6 inches long, and they clip into loops along the sides of the power bank when you’re not using them. Anker says they’re tested to survive more than 10,000 bends.

Two cables mean you can charge your phone and earbuds, or two phones, without carrying anything else, and the extra USB-C and USB-A ports add two more devices. The short length is the trade-off: you’ll hold the power bank next to your phone while charging, rather than leaving it in a bag across the room.

Flying with It

Power banks have to go in your carry-on, never in checked luggage. The Zolo’s roughly 72 watt-hours is under the 100 Wh limit the FAA and most airlines allow without approval. Some airlines have added their own rules, such as banning in-flight use or requiring power banks to stay visible, so check your airline before you fly.

Anker’s Power Bank Recalls

Anker has recalled several power bank models in 2024 and 2025 because of battery cells from one supplier that could overheat. One of them was a different Zolo: the Zolo 20K 30W with one built-in cable (model A1689), made between mid-2024 and early 2025. Other recalled models include the A1257, A1263, A1647, A1652, and A1681.

The power bank we recommend here is a different model, the A110M, and it isn’t on those recall lists. Anker says it uses upgraded cells certified under the international IECEE CB scheme. If you already own an Anker power bank, check the model number printed on it. Our Anker power bank recall guide lists every recalled model, how to check the serial number and how to get a refund.

The Anker 325 was a dependable, cheap 20K power bank, but its 15W output and leftover micro-USB port are dated, and Amazon no longer stocks it. The Zolo charges phones far faster and adds built-in cables at a similar price.

The 20K 87W model costs about $18 more and is the one to get for laptops: it delivers up to 65W from one port, enough to charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro to about half in under 40 minutes. For phones and tablets, the Zolo is the better value.

Who Should Buy It, and Who Should Skip It

Buy it if you want a large, inexpensive power bank for phones, earbuds, tablets, and handhelds; you travel or commute and hate packing cables; or you need to charge several devices at once.

Skip it if you need fast laptop charging (get a 65W to 140W power bank), want something pocketable (a 10,000mAh bank is about half the weight), or need cables long enough to charge from a bag.

Final Verdict

The Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 45W) is the easy upgrade from the old Anker 325: the same 20,000mAh capacity at about the same weight, but with 45W output, 30W recharging, a charge display, and two cables you can’t forget at home. For phones and tablets, it’s one of the best-value power banks you can buy.
